Central Region Coordinator

Position Summary

Serving as a resource and staff liaison for Washington Farm Bureau’s (WFB) efforts in building grassroots-grounded relationships that enhance and support affiliated County Farm Bureaus and state programs, the position works strategically with state and county Farm Bureau leaders to strengthen the future of agriculture. The coordinator will grow assigned committees and county Farm Bureaus, strengthen county Farm Bureau leadership and governance, focus on membership growth and engagement, and support local and state initiatives as a part of the mission-driven grassroots organization. Responsibilities

County Farm Bureau Development:

  • Serve as a liaison in support of the organization’s vision and mission.
    • Advise and assist assigned County Farm Bureaus (CFB) in good governance practices.
    • Ensure WFB staff and elected leadership are aware of CFB goals/challenges/successes.
    • Support and initiate quality leadership development and member experiences in CFB.
    • Ensure open and transparent communication between Farm Bureau affiliates.
    • Recruit members and leaders of all kinds to strengthen the organization.
  • Assist CFB in planning and executing professional meetings, local initiatives and events.
  • Assist CFB in evaluating and setting a written goals and annual plan of action that are measurable and result in successes.
    • Support local issues efforts and solutions.
  • Support attainment of membership growth quota annually.
  • Grow CFB use of and participation in committee structures.
    • State and local committee participation in every county.
    • Increase engagement and involvement in programs and committees.
    • Provide support for CFB committees.

Department Team and Personal Professional Development

  • Support and collaborate across the Organizational Development team.
    • Conduct self-training and team development for proficiency in WFB programs, member benefits, leader development and promotion of the organization.
  • Establish strategic plans, resources and templates for each assigned CFB and state committee.
    • Evaluate plans and outcomes monthly, quarterly and annually.
    • Alter specific purposes, goals and outcomes to meet the needs of each assigned CFB/program committee.
    • Share regularly within the team for feedback and support.
  • Grow presentation, communication and leadership development skills to benefit members.

Cross-Departmental and Organization-Wide Support

  • Support promotion and recruitment of new members into member benefit programs.
    • Retro and Safety/Claims, Healthcare, FB Insurance, and American Farm Bureau.
    • Sharing success stories across departments.
  • Assist in developing resolutions and growing member knowledge about key legislative and state government issues. Ensure responses to Action Alerts.
    • Support local issues and Farm Bureau initiatives in collaboration with WFB Governmental Affairs department.
  • Support WFB Communications and Marketing in gaining member stories to be highlighted in social media, print articles and media responses.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as needed to meet the organization’s mission.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • College degree in agriculture, leadership, marketing, communications, political science or related areas. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience in agriculture or having a background in farm and ranch work.
  • Experience working with the public (customers) is a plus.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills.
  • Able to organize workflow, be flexible in work schedule and work with little direct supervision.
  • Able to travel, and work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Self-motivated to achieve, set goals and develop successful outcomes.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and to develop relationships.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, MS Office apps, use of social media platforms and customer management data systems.

Salary Range and Benefits

  • Ranging from $55,000 to $70,000 depending on education, background and experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to work in an office environment at a computer or travel by vehicle to meetings with little special access on nights and weekends. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to pass a background check and provide a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
