Legislative
The WFB Governmental Affairs team works with our members to engage in legislative and regulatory activities at all levels of government to ensure that economic and regulatory conditions remain favorable to agriculture. Increasing inflation, regulations, and energy costs threaten farms and harm consumers. Agriculture needs policy support to continue to be good stewards of the land and provide safe, local food.
The WFB legislative committee is comprised of one member from every County Farm Bureau.
Each year, the Legislative committee develops a Public Policy Agenda, a prioritized list of issues to pursue during the upcoming session of the Washington State Legislature.
With the support and engagement of the 1st Vice President, Bridget Coon, the committee delivers these priorities through building relationships, Boots on the Hill annual event at the Washington State Capitol, and more.
Each member takes pride in delivering the highest priorities of the organization, advocating on behalf of agriculture, and learning the nuances related to specific bills in the legislature.
