Washington State’s Department of Labor and Industries is again hosting two days of their Ag Safety Day workshop, with one in Yakima Feb. 7, and one in Wenatchee Feb. 28.

Michael Peterson, Chair of L&I’s Ag Safety Day Committee, said this event is critical to the industry because they too frequently see stories, or get reports from injuries, exposures or worse.

“Our goal is to reduce those instances. We want to reduce fatalities, we want to reduce injuries and every month you can see those come across the newspapers.”

The theme for the 2018 event is “Production to Processing.”

Peterson said underneath that theme of “Production to Processing,” they also have classes that focuses on specific industries.

“We have dairy safety. We have safety topics related to row crops. We have safety topics that are relevant to orchards, so we really try to reach out to everyone that’s involved in agriculture.”

They are also looking for anyone interested in being an exhibitor or sponsor for some of all of the two-day event.

To register, or to find out more about Ag Safety Days, go to the event’s website. There is no maximum number of people who can attend any of the workshops.
