WASHINGTON AG NETWORK – GLENN VAAGEN – On Tuesday Darigold announced plans to expand its operations in Mexico through the addition of in-market sales and logistics leaders. The new team will enhance customer service and integration with its Mexican customers. Darigold’s Jonathan Spurway said Mexico is a growing market and a perfect fit now and into the future.
“We believe that Mexico is a fabulous trade partner for us long term and we will continue to support and be in that market.”
He added while questions remain about USMCA, and when the deal will be approved, he’s confident that trade between the U.S. and Mexico will continue long-term. Spurway noted this will mean additional production opportunities for Northwest dairy farmers, as well as financial returns.
“Through Darigold, it’s returned back to the farmers, to the shareholder and we see that extension and that benefit we will continue to grow out in Darigold.”
In 2018, Mexico imported $1.784 billion of dairy products including skim milk powder/nonfat dry milk, cheese and curd, and whey and modified whey products.
