USDA Helps Organic Exports Through TASC and MAP

Organic exporters are taking advantage of two USDA programs to help open and secure new markets for the produce.

Monique Marez of the Organic Trade Association said one such program is the Technical Assistance for Special Crops, or TASC.

“Technical Assistance for Specialty Crops; that really helps us establish differences between standards around the world, understand what gaps we might have in fulfilling certain needs for our industry that will be supplemented by imports and vice versa.”

The Market Access Program, or MAP is about promotion and creating markets and demand for organic U.S. products internationally.

Marez called the programs important market builders and critical in organic equivalency agreements.
