WSDA offering nonlethal wolf management project grants

The Washington State Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for anyone interested in grant money for nonlethal wolf management projects focused on Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Stevens or Ferry Counties.

Hector Castro with WSDA said the state legislature allocated $300,000 for these grants in the latest session.

“There’s an advisory board being set up that will be setting up the guidelines for these applications to assist with their review process.”

The funding is specifically designated to projects focused on nonlethal measures, so that will be part of the requirements.

As far as who can apply for the grant? Castro said, “It’s essentially open to any individual or organization as long as the project is intended for implementation in one of those four counties.”

The deadline to apply is Dec. 15 and you can find the applications on the WSDA website.
